The robotic nature of the Presidents speech may well be an indication that he does not have much emotional feeling about what he is saying. The "Surge" is a way for the president and those who support the failed Iraq policy to "save face". The "Surge" will not be any major change in the current military deployment to Iraq, but whatever token victories are reported can be framed as successes related to the presidents policy.
The real story is buried. Why have we not heard about the PSA (Profit Sharing Agreements) being created between Shell, BP, Exxon and Chevron and the new Iraqi government? Iraq is about to become the only middle eastern country (and absolutely the only OPEC country) to share its oil profits with foreign corporations. Why is the mainstream media and the new congress acting as though the finalization of these massive oil deals have nothing to do with the Presidents policy on Iraq?
