Poetry: Walls

by Livenbyfaith

Created on: October 22, 2008

I remember the day the ground work started,

Great noise echoed throughout the land.

A hole was dug where my heart was once implanted,

It's broken pieces were shook in "his" hand.

In it's place a layer of concrete was poured,

It was my attempt to protect from the pain.

I prayed the concrete would dry very quickly,

Before another sudden downpour of rain.

Although the hole was covered now,

My face was still exposed to each blow.

I requested more layers of concrete be poured,

So the scars, all the bystanders, wouldn't know.

There soon was a sense of safety,

The concrete covered my view.

But upon turning around to presume with my life,

I felt a knife, in my back, pierce straight through.

Construction continued on for a while,

Until every visible opening was filled.

To ensure no cracks were in my concrete walls,

The concrete walls, finally finished, were then sealed.

The grand opening is finally here now,

Ribbons are being cut, while I hear true love calls.

Unfortunately, before it can enjoy the grand opening,

True love must tear down pain's Walls.
