Poetry: Separate ways

Separate ways

Two amazingly great years we shared,

Laughing, joking, talking,

Growing steadily closer every day,

You made me laugh, made me smile,

Full of stories that just kept coming.

Remember the gig we went to in May?

Or the petrol garage on that awful day...?

All the dancing to joy division,

And the amazing birthday cds you made,

(Sorry you were ill that day!)

You rock, never forget that, even now,

I love you! Will never stop, you're amazing.

The fun we had and the times we shared,

Will be memories I will never forget,

Even though we're going separate ways.

So, you say I'm bringing you down,

I'm sorry if those smiles turned into frowns,

I didn't know the love between us was growing stale,

That neither of us wanted it anymore,

Maybe we were just too close.

Even though you turned on me when it got hard,

I'm not going to start to hate you,

That trust I warily put in you, broken.

I can't do it again, can't be broken anymore.

I loved you and you let me down.

We must go our separate ways.
