There would have to be two different lists of suggestions for each of the two presidents. The first list would be for the current president and the second would be for the incumbent president. There are some tough decisions that have to be made and likely some new legislation passed. These are both essential in order to protect the citizens while not alienating ourselves to the other countries of the world. Perhaps our current president needs the advice just as much (or more) as the next to be elected.
Lets start with the current president. The only way that he could ever possibly say that his two terms as the commander in chief were at all successful would be the capture of Osama and the vanquishing of El Queda, the crushing of the Taliban, and or all of the above. The reasons that these things have to be done is the same reason that all Americans are very cautious of any international travel, comments pertaining to certain ethnic groups and or opinions on what has to be done to ensure the safety of the American people and the democracy that we stand for. The fact that we have sent thousand of troops and trillions of dollars to Iraq has to be the most foolish thing that we have done in the cause to eliminate terrorists. All this has really accomplished is a lot of tension in the same area of the world that is the birthplace of these terrorist groups. The fact that he continued a war that his father's administration had already lost is the same reason this country is not about to start recognizing a "royal" line of succession. As if his father's term didn't confuse the average American enough, the son not only caused more confusion and resentment but also ended up using the key figures in the cabinet of the father to try to get him out of the whole mess.
The true fact remains that we as people will not be satisfied with the outcome of any of this without the head of Osama on a very large, tall stick (preferably stuck at the exact site of the twin towers in New York City with an American flag waving next to it) for all to see. We made Saddam hide in a hole in the ground in his own country, so why can't we do this to Osama in someone elses? If we never find Osama it will never be forgotten in the back of our minds. I am sick and tired of being so politically correct about the way we have been trying to find these people. The terrorist groups that are responsible must be completely eliminated. If there is a government or country who defends, harbors or sponsors any of these groups perhaps they would be more inclined not to if given a true and unrelenting military threat that is imminent. This could be done by diplomatic means involving a time constraint with an embargo of economic and or food resources or whatever measures that it would take to make those who stand against us fall. If this is not done I feel as if we have acted as scared children doing exactly what our blind, chemically dependant, mentally impaired, delusional, economically driven parents have told us to do, even when everyone knows that it isn't right. I could go on with this point for a while, but the fact remains that these are the same people that we elect to make these decisions.
The second list of suggestions are for our next president. Whoever is elected must find the terrorists no matter where they are and no matter who stands in our way (unlike the current administration that has gone to great pains to continue a futile effort in a foreign country where the people will always hate us). Diplomatically reach out to shake the hand of all of the other countries, governments, and organizations to get their complete compliance and cooperation. Then we need to implement the advice of a great man. Talk softly and carry a big stick. Make this war about good people of the world ridding it of the parasitic, undermining, combative, bottom of the barrel terrorists who use innocent people to express their political and religious views and spread hate directed toward any who aren't just like them. Let the people of the world know there will always be consequences for aggressive acts on any people, religion, ethnic group or other organization that is behaving in a peaceful, diplomatic way.The truly significant message that our next president must convey is that we do have the ability to become, once again, economically independent while maintaining trade and tourism and peace with the rest of the world.Make it here, build it here, buy it here and sell it here!
Energy independence cannot be just a theory or slogan. If there is any country in the world that can make these things happen, it is the USA. Take away the reasons that we depend on everyone else in the world for oil or any other resource. We can do it if we set possible goals and work toward them. I don't care if you are a Republican or Democrat or whatever. We should implement solidarity not as a party members, ethnic groups or other demographics, we need to unite as Americans! We need to stop being afraid, we are the best governmental system in the world and we as people should embrace and utilize this to not only empower our country, but to give hope to those that are everywhere else in the world. That is why we are here. We are the light (the light will soon be powered by a renewable energy source and technology that is made right here) at the end of the tunnel and now is the time to make the tunnel big enough for everyone!
