There are many benefits for exercising regularly, and burning calories is one of them. The type of exercise, your body weight, the intensity of the exercise, your metabolism and the length of the exercise are factors that affecting calories burned in your body. Therefore, choosing a workout class can be important for your success in burning body fat. However, from spinning to step to yoga, there are not only many types of workout classes out there, but also the names can be confusing from class to class. This article will show you the amount of calories burned for different workout class and it is categorized into cardiovascular and mind-body exercise.




Cardiovascular exercise, also known as aerobic or cardio exercise is exercises that involve the large muscle like legs and help make your heart and lung stronger. It is the most effective way of burning calories. Types of cardiovascular workout classes are:





Spinning is a high intensity workouts to music, which involves a variety of movements and speeds, with spinners sometimes standing on the pedals and other times sitting like normal, sometimes pedaling at top speed and other times recovering at a slower pace. It burns 450 500 calories in 45 minutes.





Cardio kickboxing is a combination of aerobics, boxing, and martial art fitness exercise. Classes vary but generally involve a variety of punches, kicks, knee strikes, and other self-defense moves mix together with bouncing base move. It burns 700 1000 calories for an hour.





Step aerobics is like the standard aerobics with the addition of a specially designed platform or "step". Its basic moves include getting on, off, over, across, and around the step. The calories burned depend upon the step height used during workout. There are 4 inches, 6 inches, 8 inches, and 10 inches, and each burns 135, 165, 192, and 216 calories for a half-an hour exercise.





Rebounding is an exercise which involves various movements on the mini-trampoline. This exercise is superior to any other because it not only uses gravity but also two other forces: acceleration and deceleration. You experience weightlessness at the top of the bounce and weight doubles at the bottom of the bounce as weight pulling you into the center of the rebounder. It burns 410 calories for an hour.





Dance classes, from line dance to hip hop dance to belly dance, can burn an average of 210 calories for an hour.
