Poetry: Autumn

by Janette Dengo

Sweet October,

Fallen are leaves departing trees
Blanket of colour on ground
Lovers embrace in gentle breeze
Outcome of this so profound

Both created of nature's fairness
Existence in water and the air
Surging into a sacred awareness
Smiling of joy in bit of flair

Awaken time in endless seasons
The solstice of transformation
Magical month for many reasons
Translating this information

Two different time-lines blended
Adore expressed for amity
Weary white dove finally landed
Cooing at last with ability

The beaming rays of sunshine lit
Warms these branches bare
Powerful surge make puzzles fit
These earthly souls are rare

Lives so distant of the compound
Searching for thyself in other
Yet in this month both are found
In union of mother and father

Gold valleys rest in autumn wealth
Mountains moving in gusts
Two hearts race speed of stealth
Awaken spirits yield to lusts

Mornings awake in the gentle mist
Fading so unhurriedly away
Evenings are becoming extra crisp
Yearning for warm sunny day

Cool ground awaits yet one more
To blanket this grayish land
Cleansing pureness of white snow
Asleep finally hourglass sand

Elusive barren month of autumn
Of unyielding winning fame
Uniting two spirits not forgotten
In enchanted dance of flame

Enlightening fruitfully exchanged
In fashion of chatter engage
Sweet October will forever remain
Changing time of soulful age
