face a natural look.
Pointer#2. Pay attention to your neck's skin tonenot your facewhile picking a shade. Or, you can just buy a shade lighter than your face's actual skin tone.
The powder you select should be the same shade as your base or translucent. Some powders such as Coty only come in tan or translucent, however, and you just pick the one that matches the best. Again, use the same downward and outward strokes. You do not want a conflict with fine facial hairs. Powder keeps your foundation in place throughout the day and is very important in summer months. It can also be worn without base to hide minor imperfections; it will not last as long though.
If you are wearing sun screen, then apply the powder more liberally. Powder is a great way to even out your complexion. Be sure to apply powder before any eye makeup! Use a well rounded, large makeup brush; using a powder puff can be tricky, because you run the risk of putting too much powder on the face.
Eye makeup
Eyeshadow comes in many colors, but picking the best shades is not hard to do. If you want eyeshadow that is the same color as your eyes, then make sure it is a little lighter or darker than your eye hue. Black and white shadow goes good with just about all eye colors.
To apply eye liner, start from the inside corner of your eye and just draw the line as close to your eyelids as possible. For the neatest application I recommend using Maybelline expert eyes. This handy eyeliner comes with a built in sharpener and is basically a no mess application. A more experienced person can opt for the liquid eyeliner, just make sure your hands are pretty steady when you apply this type.
Using mascara is a breeze. It looks scary at first, but it's easy. Again, make sure you don't get the mascara in your eyes. Open the tube, turn the wand/brush inside. Then, carefully brush along lashes to apply. Once you get the hang of it, you can just blink a few times while holding the brush steady to apply to the top lashes. For the bottom lashes, just swipe the brush in one sweep across the lashes-starting from the inner eye.
Blush
In general, blush should be applied to the apple of the cheeks. To apply in the right area, smile. The apples of your cheeks are the thick part of your cheeks. You need to determine the shape of your face first. If you are round/square faced, then apply the blush more in the center of your face. However, if you have a long and narrow face, apply below the cheekbone with a horizontal angle. This will make the face appear wider and give you that high cheekbone look. Apply your face makeup and eye makeup before you do the blusher. Put some blush on the brush, smile and gently sweep on color following the cheekbone up towards the outer eye. Women need a wide variety of shades to match their wardrobe.
Lipstick
Lipstick should be applied last, once you've put powder and base on, you'll see why. It takes makeup tools in order to apply lipstick correctly, though. If you don't use stick lipstick, then you will obviously need a handy lipstick brush. First, use a moisturizer to make sure your lips are soft. Next, draw a line that defines the Cupid's bow (upper lip). Do the edges of the lip also. Then, take the lip brush to fill in. Make an 'O' with the lips so that no lipstick will get on the teeth during the application. To make your lipstick last even longer, use an ice cube to go over it. That's it!
I hope these tips help you, especially if you are just learning how to apply makeup. As you can tell, makeup can be applied with or without expensive tools and accessories. For more tips, try purchasing a beauty book or ask a local beautician.
