Life, Liberty, and Property, what do they mean?
The answers these days are not easily seen
Does a man have the right to decide his own fate?
Without interference and coercion from the all powerful State
Must I be subjected to an unjust order?
Because I live within unjust borders?
Do my rights come from Nature and God?
Or are they decided by an elected Mob?
If my freedom is threatended during times of national strife
Am I really secure in my rights to liberty and life?
Do I have a right to my property and to the fruits of my labor?
Or are they subject to the common good and the opinions of my neighbor?
I used to be thankful for being born in the land of the free
But now I am reluctantly inclined to disagree
The philosophy of the Founders has become a relic of the past
Our fates now decided by the ruling caste
This Leviathan Government has authority to capture and seize
Our property and wages with taxation and fees
Now the Treasury's coffers can flow to the brim
With money confiscated on a politician's whim
In our persons, homes, and papers, we were once secure
Now unlawful search and seizure, we are forced to endure
Where war was once declared for legitimate defence
We are now thrust into it for dollars and cents
During the times of our darkest hour
The State will usurp more and more power
Always seeking to grow in strength and size
It must always engage in more deceit and lies
The State has monopolized education, history is what it interprets and recites
So the masses of people become unaware of their rights
For the State can only use force to coerce and oppress
In its pursuit of faux egalitarian progress
Centralized power and collectivism have slowly replaced
Natural rights, liberty, and freedom, ideals in which our Nation was firmly based
They have labeled self reliance, individualism, and liberty as obscene
To turn all individuals into cogs in their machine
We are now serfs expected to blindly obey our masters' cues
We must remember, we were once sovereign citizens, free to choose
Our Nation has strayed so far from where it first began
As a defender of liberty and the rights of man
We can not afford to be passive and accept serfdom as the norm
But must actively resist oppression, statism, and tyranny in every form
For no government bureaucracy can ensure that a nation is great
It is the champions of liberty, the enemies of the State
Who truly believe in freedom and remain deeply aware
That the first thing necessary for man is to breathe free air
