Growing up as a young girl, I dreamed of the perfect wedding. Of course, as the years passed, the image of that perfect wedding changed. When the time finally came I was so excited. Not knowing quite what I wanted, I think I had every bridal magazine off of the rack. The dress seemed to be the most important detail of this wedding.

Sitting and pouring over these, I soon realized I was never going to be able to afford these gorgeous designer dresses. Was my dream wedding going to go down in flames? Not if I could help it! The search was actually very easy. I bought the first dress I tried on. Seriously. I found it at the mall. In a shop for teens, after prom. It was a beautiful off-the-should white dress, for $75. It was perfect for me.

Now, I wouldn't recommend that everyone get the first dress they look at. But I knew there weren't that many places in my area to find a dress. If you need to find a dress on a budget, I would suggest trying your local David's Bridal. They have a $99 dress sale quite often and you can really find a beautiful gown. Thrift shops or consignment shops are a good place to look. And then like me, check out local dress shops that cater to prom. You never know what you will find.

Just remember to take your time and enjoy. Weddings are meant to happen once and should be a joyous occasion from beginning to end.
