Autumn is my favorite time of year because my favorite howl-iday is Howl-loween. During fall I do a number of projects by my self or with the little ones in my family.
1)One of my projects is called "Pumpkin Masterpiece"
You need:
• One black poster board
• A few pieces of orange construction paper
• One sheet of green construction paper
• Paper
• Tape
• Scissors
• One black marker
Cut out as many orange circles as you can. Give them a little pumpkin shape. They should be the size of an adult's fist. Count how many orange circles you have, and then cut out as many small green rectangles as there are circles. Give them a little curvy shape as well. You now have orange pumpkins with green stems.
Tape the rectangles to the circles and flip them over. Have your child draw scary pumpkin faces on all the pumpkins with the black marker. (If the marker is a permanent marker have them do it on a piece of cardboard or outside.)
Afterwards, wrap one inch pieces of tape around your fingers (the sticky side facing outwards) to make circles. Stick those to the backs of your pumpkins. Then press the pumpkins to the black poster board and hang for all to see.
2)Another project is called "The Acorn Bowl"
You need:
• Black glitter
• Orange glitter
• Green glitter
• Elmer's school glue
• A bowl of acorns
• Any decorative glass, wicker, or fruit bowl
• Three small bowls
• One ladle with straining holes
To start- pour a centimeter of black glitter into one of the small bowls, a centimeter of orange into another small bowl, and a centimeter of the green in the third small bowl. One-by-one cover each acorn in glue and completely cover it by rubbing it on with your fingers and put into the bowl of black glitter. Do about five or six at a time depending on the size or your small bowls. Pour a little black glitter over top of it and leave it to dry.
Repeat with the orange and green glitter bowls. About 30-45 minutes later you and your child(ren) can use the ladle to scoop out the little acorns to see how they look. Gently dust the little excess glitter and place into your display bowl. Make as many as desired. This makes a great centerpiece.
3) My last project is called "Ghostly treat"
You need:
• Napkins
• Blow Pops
• Black pens
• Black ribbon
First, cut ribbon into 5-inch long strips. Set aside. Then place the center of a napkin over the top of a Blow Pop sucker and wrap it over it. Bunch the napkin around the stick underneath the sucker at the top of the stick. Tie a ribbon around the bunched part of the napkin to keep it from coming off the stick. Tie it into a black bow that should be right at the top of the stick. Repeat for all the suckers and then let your child draw ghostly faces on them so they can pass them out at school, a party, or for the Trick-or-Treaters that come by.
