OK, I only watch the first 10-15 minutes of The View, ever since the Barbara/Star feud. To make a long story short, Star could have won the admiration of even her harshest critics if she had left The View without trying to expose Barbara. She had to announce her leaving because she had given the interview to People Magazine, as if Barbara could not find that out, and the article would have come out before her planned exit speech on that Thursday. Whether she ever admits it or not, Star got offended and allowed her hurt to lead her into the worst business decision of her life. She shot off her own foot with her mouth! Going on Larry King one second after that was a horrible move also. The interview was a lousy one and she tried to cover her true feelings with that banana-like smile and false humility.
As in intro to my views on the Rosie/Donald feud, I also heard firsthand the words Rosie spoke about Clay Aiken and Kelly Ripa. Kelly snuffed that with sincerity, tact, and honesty. Did anyone notice, though, that when it was announced that Kelly was on the line, the first thing Rosie did was give the audience a gift right before she took the call from Kelly!
Of course, the words spoken by Rosie and the rebuttal by Donald would be like the "shots heard around the world" because they are such infamous people. However, Hearing every word firsthand because I was watching at the time, I really take issue with Rosie for no other reason than that she started the entire feud in a way that was so personal and so out of context to what was going on until it would have been difficult for anyone to resist striking back.
It is one thing to disagree with Donald for his decision about Ms. Conners, but Rosie began a rant that was rude, unprofessional, mean-spirited, out-of-line and totally personal. Although she is the host, there is no room for what she did. If she had ripped into Bill Geddes, Barbara, Joy, or Elizabeth, they would not be so eager to say forgive and forget.
People must remember that Donald is human, and some humans cannot take criticism as well as others can. She called him everything from a "snake-oil salesman" to "cheater". Rosie also shot off about his financial affairs with incorrect information. Donald, publicly, had no feud with her. She even went so far as to distort her face, sweep her hair over and mock him.
Now, put yourself in Donald's place. You are a very popular member of your circle or community. Someone in your peer group does the same thing to you
