Poetry: Words

Words... like autumn leaves
Blowing in the wind
Ever rustling on the edge of our consciousness
Falling but never staying where they fall

Words... are such fragile things
Spoken thoughts, written feelings
Understood at the source
But never the same again

Words.... such capricious things
Hurting where they're meant to heal
Confusing where they're meant to enlighten
Morphing,... changing ....bits

Words.... are sometimes all I have
Offered up as gifts of love
Received as changelings sent from hell
Never seen for what they are

Words.... such a burden on my soul
How easy they roll off the tongue
Cutting as they fly through air
Cotton turned to burnished steel

Words.... I give you from my heart
I love you, miss you, want you near
Never meant to bruise your heart
Please find me past my words

    I danced with the devil,
Because he fed me a line,

    Mixed with rose colored lies.

    Struggling words......

Laying on a back of moss
I am torn to be free,
Is it a day for my poet
    Or the man in me?

    I crave inspiration
