Short stories: Losing love

The summer of three thousand and I decide to marry Guy. Guy and I had been involved for a while and he loved me the same way I did him. He had just come home when he received a fax. I usually didn't read his mail but for this time only it aroused my curiosity. It was a letter from Kay and it read:
Dear Guy, I love you more than words could ever say, please handle the business I'll be waiting for you.

My emotional state unfold as all I could think of was how he told me he detest Kay and she was no longer in his life. Yeah ,he and Kay had been together but she was out of the country and they weren't involved. So was I to confront him or wait and see what the plan was and what to do about it. He came into the room as I was tearing the letter and placing it behind me. He was fine and his lips touched mine as we stood there while I thought about his plans with Kay.

Days passed and I had no idea of what he was thinking and he never seemed to be uptight about anything. It was killing me to know that he was planning to leave me. What did he want my money or my life. He called me to attend this dinner at one of his friends house. One part of my mind wanted to go another wanted to hide my head in shame. All of my friends knew that I, Helen Winston loved Guy. I had given him shares of my business. I gave him my money to become educated and he had blackmailed me without premise a couple of years before: too embarrassing to tell anyone. Okay what the hell everyone thought
I was straight but he had caught me in bed with my best friend. He was very angry and threatened to tell everyone including the press. I own an art gallery with some high protocol clients and some of the paintings are contingent on me selling them.
He made me invest a million dollars in his education or he would tell it. He was my weakness, the only man ever to touch me.
Anyway once he graduated he was in my life and maybe he was pimping me but I loved him. As time passed he offered me my
money back as he probably knew I wouldn't accept it.

We atend the dinner and I saw a few of Kays' friends. They seemed to watch me and laugh at me most of the night. Finally I told Guy to take me home. Guy,"is it true that you are still seeing Kay", he smiled and told me no. Men are such liars and he know he is one. We were to be a married couple in two days. Two days and this lying behind could not tell me the truth.

I continued to confront him for the next couple of days. Finally it dawn on me to not marry or trust him. He had real tears when I gave him the ring back. He told me for the duration of our relationship that he was not the one caught cheating.

Two weeks had passed and the wedding had been called off and Guy had not called me or anything. I saw Kays' sister Jean and asked her how was Kay and Guy these days? She smiled and told me she heard the wedding was off. While we were talking her cell rang and she had the strangest look on her face. She told me that Guy had killed himself. It was his brother and the note read that he was deep in debt with someone and he couldn't repay the debt. My heart fell into my knees. I told Jean it look as if
Kay and I both had lost. She looked at me and said,"Kay had a nervous breakdown two years ago and that she was in a mental institution in Europe". She had been working in the office there trying to get it together and had not heard from Guy in two years.

When I got home Guy had sent me flowers with a note that read:
My mother told me to love God first and me second. You won't let me pay you one way so I cannot live without you.

My life has not been the same and I know to get in Church now. I am sorry that Guy didn't get a chance to learn. We were so busy planing everything except God in our life.
