Favorite fictional characters

Ponyboy Curtis is one of the greatest fictional characters of all time to me. When I was in middle school we had to read the Outsiders and once I read the opening lines he had me interested. Ponyboy Curtis is this poor teenage boy from the wrong side of the tracks, completely poetic and living in a world trying to figure out where he belongs. I felt like the depth of his soul is not common to the average male and I loved the way he was into nature. I would sit back and read about how he admired his brother and how he took the time to see the things that were overlooked about his friends. To me he was an example of what all girls looked for in a guy. He was sensitive, caring and had a bad boy image. It is hard to find someone who would go around resiting Nothing Gold can Stay by Robert Frost and it is my favorite poem. Like any teenager he did things he was not to proud of but still somehow he was able to rise above his surroundings and he became a local hero. The courage that his character had was unmatchable by most people. If noticing sunsets and being smart made him look bad it never seemed to bother him that much. His life was tragic. He lost his parents in a car crash and was being raised by his older brother that he felt like never really loved him. Being from the wrong side of town and going around with a tough appearance landed him in gang violence that he knew was unnecessary. On the night that he could not take anymore he ran away with his abused and unloved friend Johnny. When he decided to walk back home and face the music about his decision, some rich kids started trouble with his buddy. Needless to say Johnny pulled out a knife to protect his friend and they got into a very serious situation. I laughed , I cried, I cheered , I think I went through every emotion while I read what was going on in his world. I truly got into his character and I enjoyed being apart of his world while I read it. And I think that you too would be able to relate to his experiences. Ponyboy is a wonderful fictional personality and I would recommend anyone meet this character by reading The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton. I am so glad that we had to read it at school because I might have never grown to love it as much as I do. So if you like stories about sixties, brotherhood, friendship, poetry, love and much more than you too will love Ponyboy Curtis.

The other greatest fictional character to me is Ginger Foutley. Back in high school I caught hold of a cartoon about a pre-teen girl called As Told By Ginger. Ginger is this adorable red head who loves to write and is very expressive. On the show she tackles all types of issues and never ducks for cover. I enjoy her so much because I can relate to her. Ginger has three best friends. She ends up having feelings for her bestfriend Darren. Darren is a wonderful guy and he and Ginger eventually end up together. The show touches on how their relationships effect their friendships with all. Ginger has the qualities that all people wish they had. She is always honest and she expresses her opinion no matter what. Her creative side is beautiful and she wrote this one touching poem about a girl called , And Then She Was Gone. It by far has more talent beyond most writers and she was only in middle school when she did it. In the end she became a sucessful author, mother and wife. Ginger is an all around girl who grew up and accomplished her dreams. She has taught me that the simple pleasures of life are wonderful and friends are an important part of life. If you get a chance to check out As Told By GInger on dvd. It is well worth your time.
