Will there ever be a chance for world peace?

World peace has a chance as countries around the world must unite to deal with economic crisis, war, terrorism, energy shortage, nuclear proliferation, and global warming. Recognizing these events are interrelated and effect all countries, it's in the long-term interest of individual countries to work together to solve the problems facing them. By nations strengthening their ties and unifying their strategies, great progress can be made toward stability, prosperity, and peace for all.

Unprecedented opportunities for international cooperation exist to fight the downturn in the world economy, with an all inclusive effort needed to reform world markets. Including all parties, in addition to being practical, will also help to build trust and solidarity extending far beyond the economic sphere.

Reliable energy access being critical to economic stability and growth, alternatives to Middle Eastern sources must be found. In addition to working on economic and energy strategies, we should also endeavor to find common ground with former adversaries such as Russia and China in renewing our commitment to reduce our nuclear weapons. These massive arsenals are having a detrimental effect on efforts at nuclear non-proliferation, while at the same time standing in the way of gaining each others and the world's trust for cooperation in other areas.

Countries must recognize that how ever strong or weak they are now, or at any given moment, this strength/weakness flows in large part from one another, and should not, can not, be separated, only deflected in the short-term. Just as last century's economic depression and World Wars were interrelated effecting all nations, so are many of the challenges we face today.

Since war, terrorism, energy supply, economic recession/depression, nuclear proliferation, and global warming, are also, interrelated, feeding off one another, it's again necessary to come together to deal with challenges which threaten our very existence. Maintaining this unity will be crucial in determining how we deal with these problems over the long-term, as they will return in proportion to old divisions coming back.

It's imperative, we cease trying to out do each other for supremacy and begin working toward what's best for all nations and people, which consequently will benefit everyone individually and as a whole. As we seek to temper our competitive will for individual achievement with what can be accomplished together, we must remember that one performs best
