Important thoughts are often hard to define. What is important to one may not be to another. One thing is for sure though. No matter who determines the importance, the results of our choices will produce importance, and the final outcome will reflect our journey in getting to the outcome. The votes cast in the Presidential Election of 2008 will determine how we live in the next four years, perhaps even eight.
As the time closely approaches to make your way to cast your ballot, it is a good time to stop amidst all the rhetoric, debates, and campaign promises with distractions that could lead you make a wrong decision. Perhaps you may want to take a few moments to think of the following:
- Many before have had charisma, with the seemingly right answers, and some have been used in mighty ways, but of those, some have taken down or held in bondage a mass of followers.
In contrast, many have appeared as a bundle of failure, lacking right words to say, yet with the right heart attitude, and most definitely the direction that produces the needed outcome, they have ultimately succeeded, despite obstacles.
- If you value the gift of life (most definitely you do your own), then you might want to consider what even the slightest entrance to a pro-choice world can mean. Is it really something you will want to ultimately face, knowing that you had a hand in taking the life of an innocent human, who unlike their parent, could not make the choice?
- Remember not to take this vote lightly, it is a decision you will have to live with the rest of your life and beyond. Don't get caught up in what seems better for the here and now. Think about what will matter to you when you are on your death bed, when you have nothing left except the legacies you leave behind. So what if you have to pay higher taxes, or don't get as much health insurance as you may feel you should, or loose your home. Yes, all these are not pleasant and can mean a lot of suffering. Remember those who suffered greatly of the past, at least their suffering was for something worthy, the concern for another human being. Don't focus on just you. Get outside the ME box.
As I listened to Geraldo Rivera say on his television program that we should be concerned about the issues, the issues of health care, economy, war, etc. I asked myself the question, "Are these the issues that truly matter?" They are important no doubt, but are they the ones that ultimately matter most?
The words said here within this article may not be popular. You have to decide if they are true for you. If these words have at least made you think, they are worthy.
