Workout strategies to stay motivated

Staying motivated with a workout can be challenging especially if you dislike the routine. So, get motivated by choosing a workout that fits your personality. What characteristics best describe you? Not sure, take the Jung Typology Test. Then, pick a routine. Put it on your calendar. Track your progress. Reward yourself when goals are met.

YOGA, MARTIAL ARTS, RUNNING, WALKING -For solitary time do activities like yoga, martial arts, running, and walking. Designate a place in your home where you can watch television or a movie while you workout. Purchase new tunes that correspond with your exercise speed. Keep a reflective journal.

GYM CLASS, SPORTS/SOCIAL CLUBS, GROUP TRAINING, COMPETITIVE SPORTS - Surround yourself with people. Join gym classes, sports and social clubs, group training sessions and competitive sports. To satisfy your inner social butterfly, invite friends to break a sweat with you. Then indulge in shopping or plan a vacation together for when those big goals are met.

CLUB DANCING, BOXING CIRCUITS, BOOTCAMP, OUTDOORS - Explorers get outside and partake in hiking, cycling, swimming, and gardening activities. You may also like club dancing, boxing circuits and bootcamp courses. Reward yourself by baking homemade bread, hunting down a new outfit or hosting a charades party.

OBSTACLE COURSES, WEIGHT TRAINING, BALLROOM DANCING, MARTIAL ARTS - All my feelers you need to strategize, plan, and coordinate. So tackle obstacle courses, weight training, ballroom dancing and martial arts. Hire a trainer to help you establish objectives. Invest in a scrapbook or case to display memorabilia indicative of goals met. Treat yourself to an art class or a new book.

ROCK CLIMBING, ORIENTEERING - Problem solvers will love figuring out how to reach the top of a rock wall or mountain as well as navigating through an orienteering class. Have fun buying the tools needed like a GPS and mountaineering gear once your hooked. Use Google Earth to track your progress. Keep your schedule and accomplishments on a chart. Maintain a blog or website complete with results, tips and questions to share with peers.

DANCE, YOGA, MARTIAL ARTS, TEAM BUILDING - Those people who thrive when synchronized, get ready to sync with dance, yoga, martial arts and cooperative sports like tandem kayaking, tennis, and team building exercises. You may also like to support a cause by cleaning up the environment or walking shelter dogs. In your spare time, get a new hairstyle, reminisce with a friend over
