Who can ponder
the thoughts that have been gathered
where countless minds have wondered
by the lake?
Who can imagine
the romances by starlight blooming
and lover's promises in bliss renewing
by the lake?
Who can count
the teardrops that have been shed
or how many ducks were hand-fed
by the lake?
Who can replace
moments spent wandering the edges
skipping rocks, or making marriage pledges
by the lake?
So many secrets
are held safely inside her breast
and ages of memories securely rest
by the lake.
I am adding
this morning in the dewy mist
my own ponderings to the quietness
by the lake.

Looming mists of fog
descend upon the trees.

Enamored with the hexagonal criss cross of the inner pagoda
My safety in shapes
I hear the song of the billions, their harmony

the thoughts that have been gathered
where countless minds have wondered
by the lake?
Who can imagine
the romances
