I think Michael Richards' racial comment got the desired effect that he was looking for and that would be publicity. Because of his comments, he was on every TV station, radio station, and print magazine out there. You know the saying if you can't get good attention, then get bad. Word of mouth is a powerful medium for people who want to get into the lime light. And this situation was no different.

Ever since Seinfeld went off the air Michael Richards hasn't done much of anything. Any shows that he was in after this flopped and his popularity was down. But, due to his rantings and racial comments, he got his fifteen minutes of fame back. So, I really feel that he got the desired effect, at least for the time being.

My suggestion to all is to forget you ever seen this or heard his rantings and subsequent apologies. Which in my mind were not very sincere. Go on with this life as if this man never existed and take this rant for what it was. A publicity stunt gone horribly wrong.
