Poetry: Regret

by Corri Pierce

Created on: October 19, 2008

I just wanna light the world on fire

Let it go, and from outer space, watch the blaze

It would burn so hot and glow so bright

Even God Himself would be amazed.

I just wanna drown the sun in water

Until there's no more light at all

Then I'd take the moon and toss it

Far, like a giant baseball.

I just wanna freeze every desert in the world

I wanna stop every single death and every birth

I wanna shut off gravity and unplug every ocean

And let the water drain off the Earth.

I wanna stop a million things that run at the same time

I wanna stop all the thoughts of you that run across my mind

I wanna reverse the globe- and for two months, just let it rewind

Right back to that party on the Forth of July.

I wanna go back to that very date and place, right on the dime

When I first saw you- only I won't take a second look this time.
