The "Girls Gone Wild" video collection could not be more aptly named. The word "wild" being synonymous with the words "uncultivated", "undomesticated", and "untamed". It doesn't get any more accurate than that. The footage pertained in these videos depicts such self-degrading behaviour by so many females, that the only possible conclusion that any person with the slightest bit of common sense, morals or ethics could arrive at, is that these girls have indeed gone "wild".
The world of sexual exploitation, by any means, is not a new or shocking genre of entertainment. Everyday, everywhere, at any given time, there are women all over the world who are offering or demonstrating their sexual appeal to some form of an audience in order to acquire fame, fortune or just recognition. Besides the obvious immoral repulsion of these activities, what is even more disturbing is the fact that almost every aspect of the Sex Industry is legal; and we are the very people within society who are allowing this to happen.
Most areas of the Sex Industry are regulated to some extent. "Exotic dancing"(stripping), is conducted within licensed establishments, pornographic videos are legally produced under legal regulations and copyright, and even the sex-for-money, or "Escort"(hooker) industry operations have discovered and expoloited so many loop-holes in the legal system, that even they are 90% legal in practice.
While all of these areas within the Sex Industry are an embarrassing part of our society, realistically, most employees of the above mentioned "occupations", are legally working, are of the legal age of consent, and in general, have in some manner, made this their personal area of expertise and occupation. The difference between these individuals and those shown in the "Girls Gone Wild" videos, is the surrounding element of spontaneous, impulsive, unpremeditated and random acts of foolish sexual behaviour. Most of these females, up until the point of being filmed committing these acts, were, for the most part, self-respecting, young, ordinary girls who were seen by those who knew them as having some level of personal dignity. But the lure of popularity, peer pressure, attention, and the fact that a well-known video production company was pointing a video camera at them, apparently, in one swift motion, literally "stripped" these girls of any sexual dignity they may have had. And not that any amount of compensation should be considered in exchange for this behaviour, but these girls aren't even getting paid! The only compensation they recieve is a logo-bearing t-shirt and shorts, and their drunken faces and naked bodies briefly appearing on a television screen.
Creator, director and producer of this series, Joseph R. Francis, through the vulnerability of young, ignorant and immature college girls, has acquired fame, fortune and almost celebrity status. Because of this status, he undoubtedly lives in an expensive home, owns multiple expensive vehicles, and has a seven or eight figure-sized bank account, while the girls in his videos have acquired only a t-shirt and a pair of shorts; not to mention, a loss of dignity, respect from peers, and surely the wrath of some very angry and embarrassed parents.
This type of industry within our society, is none other than a depiction of the crumbling tower of morals and ethics which once stood tall and strong. Not only have these girls gone "wild", it would seem that society has also.
