Yes-I mean come on. Do you want to see your child high? Don't we as a parent fight enough issues over safety for our children? To say a drug user is non-violent is to say Santa Claus will be the next president of the united states! Have you ever saw a addicted drug user fighting withdrawals-they'll do what it takes to get what they need to get through the addiction pain.
So we quit funding DEA officers and prison systems who give them classes and therapy for their addictions and we pay for safe surroundings for them to get screwed up in? This sounds pretty scary to me and I thank God each and every day no one did that for me or I wouldn't be here today.
Legalized marijuana is a different issue but the DEA should enforce anti-drug laws for illegal drugs or marijuana that is not legalized. We have to set boundaries. We have to set guidelines. We have to depend on each other to learn and pull together in harmony to make sure this is still a better place for our children when we are gone.
I know it costs the taxpayers on average $27,000 a year to house inmates but do you know what it costs to house a addict who lives with you because you voted to legalize drugs? I know-I dated one. $27,000 didn't even cover the first month. What do we tell our military men and women who fight for this country;"I know you risked your life to save peace for us but we weren't as strong so we stopped fighting the war on drugs and we gave up?"
Legalized marijuana is government regulated and grown for health ailments. You cannot just go get it and walk around with it. It is highly regulated in all different aspects. You have to be really bad off for it to be prescribed.
And last-we cannot just depend on the DEA to wage the war on drugs. We all have to work together with every state and federal agency, man, woman, and child to win this war against drugs. There will always be some type of problem we as humans will face if not several in our lifetime but saying the DEA shouldn't enforce anti-drug laws will only encourage other problems and faces of crime and entangle us in a web we will never find our way out of.
Yes-the DEA should enforce anti-drug laws today, tomorrow, next month, next year, and forever. Who knows, maybe your child will grow up and be one of those DEA's who is fighting the war on drugs or maybe just will be standing there looking up at the sky when you are gone saying"thank you mom or dad for fighting the war on drugs for me and making it a better place!"
