Is Fedor Emelianenko the greatest MMA alive?

Yes

by Brandon Ellis

Is Fedor the greatest Mixed Martial Artist Alive...In one word yes. I know many people would say that Anderson Silva is the greatest MMA fighter in the world, or maybe even George St. Pierre, but no fighter has so decisively proven there worth over and over again.

Sure Anderson Silva and Fedor are without peer. They have each systematically cleaned out their divisions with conviction, but Fedor's 29-1 record, and decisive victories make him the choice by a small margin.

If you look at the names on Fedor's hit list they make up a who's who of his division, from Crocop, Nogiuera, Randalman, Schilt, Sylvia, Hunt, and the list goes on. Of the major top contending heavy weights Fedor hasn't face two, Randy Couture and Andre Arlovski, who he is scheduled to fight in January.

So far no one has been able to solve Fedor, the only blemish on his record a contreversial disqualification. Ever test he's past with flying colours, when Fujita rocked Fedor early in the first round of their fight Fedor hung tough, survived and recovered to eventually submit the great Fujita.

What sets Fedor apart from most martial artists is his survival instincts and his absurd level of proficiency in ever facet of the game. If you want to strike Fedor get ready to face a dangerous striker, if you want to wrestle and go for submissions be ready for some of the best ground game in the world. It's not just on offense either, Fedor also defends better than any fighter today, slipping submissions, staying away from titanic blows and recovering from bad situations to turn fights quickly in his favor.

How do you fight a man who is perfect in nearly every facet of his game, not only that a man who is driven for greatness. he has a killer instinct like the world's greatest predators, he smells blood in the water like a shark and pounces. Like all great fighters, like all the best of the best, he is most of all a great finisher.

As much as I love Anderson Silva, his electric striking and underrated Jiu-jitsu game I can't see a fighter who can match Fedor, who can put everything together at once to so overwhelm people. Just consider his 36 destruction of the giant Tim Sylvia, his systematic destruction of Mirko Crocop, or titanic victories against Nogiuera.

Fedor is currently a man without peer, and only Anderson Silva shares the same tools to match his greatness. But for now, the Last Emperor is the greatest MMA ALIVE.
