It doesn't matter a tiny bit what some experts say about how much of the human brain is used. That's mostly because folk like that get their conclusion from testing small animals like rats in some large lab. They have to stick with using animals for their research because humans with any sense tend to stay away from being researched in some lab unless they no longer have any money to pay the local dope dealer with. Because my wife worked at one of those labs I know in detail how those rats are treated to determine if some thing is unhealthy and dangerous in human life.
With only that bit of laboratory experience anyone could say people like myself don't have any idea about how the mind functions or how many brain cells are actually used. In my case there is a huge amount of physical experience to tell others just ho my mind functioned after several traumatic experiences.
First of all I had the erg to learn about acting in a theater after finishing high school with high grade in math and science. I didn't pursue those skill when my grand father sent me to college. Instead I got into the theater arts department and learned a bunch about how one gets into character. It just wasn't very pleasing to have my performance regulated by the directer. With the invitation from some friends in class I was able to become one of the original members of the New Mexico Gunfighters association.
Even back then I could laugh at getting payed while I played some drunken outlaw cowboy staggering into town to have some fun. It hit e that way because while performing I could easily do all the things that were generally not allowed to be done by any others all over town. Playing a drunken cowboy was just like time traveling. It really helped me learn some old songs from that period of time so I could sing them as I stagger toward the sheriff and good guys.
In most cases one would believe any person getting along like that would have finished the four years in college and pursued an acting career in Hollywood. In my case the part of the mind that could handle hard mathematics and enjoy watching Star Trek got restless about trying to make a career in some theater. It pushed me into looking at some other kind of future. Back in the early eighties most universities had an officer program that guided students into studying in accepted ways on campus and going through some officer program in any branch of service. In my case I grew up knowing a Marine who had served in Vietnam. He was married
