Writing this in the middle of October, I'm extremely excited about the huge lineup of AAA games that will soon be released on all three consoles. Holiday season has always been the time of the most AAA titles being released, but this holiday is even more jam-packed of extremely hyped games. Being an HD-console gamer, I will talk about a list of huge upcoming games to be released on the Xbox 360 and PS3 this year.
First, let's start with the PS3. They will pretty much start the holiday season off this year with the release of Little Big Planet. Expected to ship at the end of October, the game is a very original platforming game, with both casual and hardcore gamers in mind. Anything can be customized in the game: you can personalize your avatar and even design and upload your own levels. The is pretty straightforward, with your avatar jumping and grabbing on to certain objects in the game to finish the wide variety of levels. The game just started getting reviews, with the average review being a superb 9.5/10.
Resistance 2 is the next big PS3 title this year. Expected to be released on November 4 in the US, the game is a highly anticipated sequel to the original Resistance, which was a great-selling launch title for the PS3. Like Gears of War 2 (which I will talk about later), the graphics in this game are amazingly superb. The first time you play this game, feel free to just stand there and gawk. Now graphics don't make a game, so let's talk about game play. This game is a pretty standard First-Person Shooter (FPS), featuring a wide range of weapons, enemies, and plenty of Sci-fi Action. There is even a fight-able enemy in the game that is several hundred feet tall! This is the Gears of War of the PS3, and if the game play videos are any evidence, this will be a great game.
How about all you 360 gamers? Don't worry, the lineup of 360 games this holiday season are just as anticipated and hyped as ever before. First, there's Gears of War 2. This game is expected to be so great that you can almost unarguably call it the new Halo 3. The first game shocked the world with its unbelievable graphics and its stellar game play mechanic: instead of the standard run and gun shooter, you take cover behind any obstacles and barriers you see in the game world. Running out in the heat of battle will lead to a quick death; you must cover to survive. The second chapter in the epic story for the survival of mankind will bring even more joy to gamers. The visuals are on par with
