Kidney stones are formations of chemicals and salts present in urine that lodge themselves in different parts of the kidneys instead of being removed normally. They can be quite small in size or as large as a golf ball and can cause excruciating pain in the lower back area to the sufferer. Most people have them removed surgically but before this route is taken try these natural ways of removing kidney stones without resorting to surgery or taking medications that bring with them a host of other side effects.

Drink plenty of water on a daily basis. When the colour of your urine is pale yellow or clear it will signal that you have given the body enough water. Alternate the water with, cranberry juice, apple cider vinegar or organic apple juice to break down the chemicals that form these stones.

You can try having a teaspoon of olive oil mixed with a teaspoon of lemon juice in a glass of water and have this each time you are experiencing pain. Having lemonade is also said to relieve the problem while some people swear by having soft drinks like cola which contain phosphoric acid that can help to dissolve the stones.

The diuretic quality of grapes and watermelon with their high potassium levels and low salt content also help in getting rid of kidney stones. Other diuretics include parsley seeds and pomegranate seeds which you can have on their own or in juice form. Dandelion and corn silk are also diuretic in nature and they can be made into a tea and drunk in the morning and evening. Try increasing your intake of vitamin C on a daily basis as this is also said to help in relieving the problems that come with kidney stones.

Changes in diet and lifestyle will help this condition and prevent any further formations. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables which provide the body with fibre, whole grains, vitamins and minerals. Reduce the intake of foods like tea, coffee, chocolate, spinach, peanuts, and meat and also cut back on calcium and salt intake to stop the problem from being further aggravated. Incorporate exercise into your life and using a sauna helps a person to sweat and aids the kidneys in carrying out their elimination process.

If the pain from the kidney stones is unbearable then you will require medical help to sort the problem out. But sticking to the above natural ways will prevent further stones from developing again. If you suffer from diabetes be careful when drinking the fruit juices because of their sweet content. Taking the advice of a natural practitioner or a nutritionist and being treated under supervision will be a better and safer option.
