You are a Manager and are Wondering Whether it is Important for Your Employees to Like You
You have a genuine concern. When I was growing up (and trust me that I have long stopped growing and can look at it all without near or short sightedness) there was a manager at the hospital where I worked.Almost everyone liked him. You would too. The guy wore black don't-bother-me boots with a fat nose and dark coloured stove pipes that hid dirt and choked life out of his miniature thighs. These pants were but an exaggerated extreme of bell-bottom. His knees almost at lazy right-angles, he walked like every step was metred, up, down, sideways, any step he took seemed calculated. Something about him was magnetic.
He was one of those people who was reserved and shy and yet dressed in a way that conflicted his demeanor. He worked most shifts with pharmacy staff. The procedure was for the patients to pay fees at the registration. During his shift patients paid their dues an fines and bribes to the pharmacy staff. Workers dodged short prescriptions because they were worth close to nothing.Polypharmacy took a toll. The best catches were prescription like the one I will show you in a second. Also allow me to write int in a language familiar to many so that we are all together in this. So, prescription worthy of staff attention would be something like this: 1. Multivitamin tabs one daily. 2.Digoxintabs one daily. 3. Potassium tabs one daily. 4. VitaminBcotabs one daily. 5.Salbutamoltabs one tab thrice daily 6.Salbutamolinhaler two puffs when necessary. 7.Indocid caps one thrice daily 8. Paracetamol tabs one tab thrice daily As opposed to something like:1.Indocid caps one thrice daily. The poor patients with one item on the list were sitting in line waiting for their reluctant Messiah. The same went for those who came for refill prescriptions.
At this hospital, the government subsidized most services. It cost an equivalent of a $5.00 flat fee for all service two to three subsequent visits without extra fees unless you x rays or blood test were necessary. So no one made dope off of refills.Workers fought like scavengers over a scanty piece of fresh carcass over new prescriptions from the Cardio and Diabetic Clinics. The example with eight items above shows you the kind of list that put you in a happy mood if you were on this shift.
The same staff in this pharmacy had a duty to collaborate with doctors on issues concerning the prescriptions. This was the primary goal of the pharmacy
