We may confuse easily, but a house is not always a home.

Literal meaning of a house and home may be very close but in real word a house is not always a home. By definition a house means "a structure serving as a dwelling for one or more persons, especially for a family" and a home is " A place where one lives; a residence. A dwelling place together with the family or social unit that occupies it; a household. An environment offering security and happiness. A valued place regarded as a refuge or place of origin".

A house does not become a home until someone or some family lives there, there may be beautiful houses there with signboard showing 'House for sale', that is not a home until someone or some family residing there. Without persons a house can not become a home, so we can say that persons or the family is the life of the house, it transforms a house into a home without any of the structural changes.

Definition of the also defines home as an environment offering security and happiness, a valued place regarded as a refuge or place of origin. When I think about home many sweet memories comes up together, the childhood, the parents, the grand parents, the school friends, the envoirments and many many more. When I think of my childhood home I drifted away from the present for a moment.

I have a new home now with my family now. My spouse, my children all are life of the house where I reside. At the end of hard day I desire the most to return to the comfort and warmness of my home. Credit goes to all my familly mebers that we have made our house a real sweet home. I wnder it is not very hard to transform house into a sweet home. Mutual understanding and respects for each others feeling are thes basics.

When I think of my house, it becomes more materialistic rather than relationship with mind. I think of the structure. I think that what I have to do and how much I have to spend to make it more beautiful? What renovation is necessary? How much loan still I have to pay back? It is a physical address of the structure, where my home is.

Although it is equally true that a home can be there without a house (which could be just a structure or shelter), but a house is not always not a home. For a home beyond the physical structure of brick, cement and woods, family bondage, warmth of relationship, happiness and security is an essential. Not only physical body but the soul of the family members should reside there.
