The Amazement of Autumn
The hands of the tallest one
Fall to the ground
Scattered like raindrops
Accenting the outstretched arms
Bare and crooked
They reach to eternity
Tapered to many points
Swaying with the wind
Bending but never breaking
Left naked and cold
Danced around by
Former hands that
Provided shade
Seldom we see
Such beautiful things
Or at least
Rarely we realize
The amazement of autumn
