For many years there has been a debate about telemarketing being illegal. Do you think that it is a good idea to ban telemarketing? Some people think that telemarketing shouldn't be illegal because it would put a lot of young high school kids out of jobs while other people think it is just annoying. However, I believe that telemarketing should be illegal because it is a waste of time; it is a form of harassment, and the lack of security.

Telemarketing is a waste of time! It is just a bunch of people sitting down in cubicles waiting for a person to get home so they may call and bother them about what phone company they have. They call to ask if you would like to buy some product that doesn't even work, or just wanting to call and waist your time. Usually this happens when you get home from work or you're relaxing or you're headed for an outing. There on and on about how this company is better than that company and it's cheaper if you did this than that. Tell me does this not sound like a waste of time to you?

Another reason telemarketing should be illegal is due to the fact that they not only call you once or twice. They call you at times three to maybe even 5 times a day every single day. Even after you told them no! They call you during the weekends as well. I'm sorry but weekends are everyone's relaxation days. Why do people want to call and bother you on your day off? This is a form of harassment. They just don't know how to take no for an answer! I'm pretty sure they don't want to be bothered on their free time.

Finally, another great reason why telemarketing should be illegal is because of the lack of security. You can no longer tell who it is you are speaking to on the phone. You can be talking to someone trying to take your credit card number and use it. You can be talking to someone that wants to sell your information to a third party. Today things are no longer like they used to be back in time everyone trusted everyone. Lately there has been a rise in identity theft and a good half of this is also because of our trusting of these so called telemarketers.

In conclusion I hope you decide to make telemarketing illegal, and identify why we have fears today of this procedure of the so called telemarketers. The wasting of our precious time, harassment and security purposes are just a handful of reasons why telemarketing should be illegal not only in the United States but all over the world as well.
