Uniforms in high schools should not be required or mandated. The reason for this is that teenagers like to express themselves in the style of clothes that they wear. A lot of studies have been conducted on the reason that teens are either content in the way they live or discontent by the clothes that they wear everyday by them. This helps counselors zoom in on problematic teens. Ever since the fifties you would hear the words preppy or nerds. So clothes convey a message not only to other teens but to school personnel as well.
Our teens of today are less concerned with the way they s look and more concerned of the new fashion craze than any other generation. If it looks cool then you buy it. Also colors have become more vibrant and less conservative. Clothing manufactures know that bigger profits come from teens than most of the adult population and the advertisements business also delivers their messages to children through television and radio personalities like movies actors and addresses. Right now the majority of television viewers are bombarded by ads involving clothes.
Should schools enforce the use of uniforms in school? I don't think so! Clothes are the essence of high school teens and if that privilege is taken away then it's like taking away rights of just being a teen. Clothes convey messages and tat is what being in high school is all about. Being able to make choices in our lives, that's what growing up is all about.
The world revolved and we all revolve with it. Uniforms in school would involve more than just filtered teens. It would involve money to certain companies. It would also mean that all kids would be dressed the same and sometimes confusing identities. Parents have a lot to do with the way teens dress; after all they still live at home. Would it be safe to say that schools already have a lot of authority when it comes to high school children? Why schools should be given the right to tell everyone how to dress, after all teachers sometimes don't, themselves follow dress codes and dress just like teens too.
Finally uniforms in high school should not be required because teenager's expressive spirit is in their clothing and will help the schools zoom in on figuring out more or less what sort of life style the students are into and figure out any issues they may have.I believe that clothes are like a voice, voicing our own opinions on how we live life. Our lives are dictated by our actions and in my opinion clothes speak louder than words. Taking the initiative from the parents and giving it to schools would be the beginning stages of dictatorship. Telling us what to wear at first, then where would it end? Clothes are our way of self expression and our form of freedom of speech. If they take that away it's like ripping us of our rights! Would you like to be dictated and told what to wear?
