Every election has had its ups and down. In every election, those candidates that run for this office are almost stripped naked so that the country know their perfections as well as their imperfections like they know the back of thier hand.
Elections had challenges with issues that ranged from hanging chads, the main issue between President Bush and Senator Kerry to a third party candidate Ross Perot. Then, of course, there is the election of 2008; an election that will decide the fate in the course our nation will take. The Republican Party has a gentleman, John McCain, who has given his life to the service of our country for many years on both the military and civilian front. Then on the other side, you have a newcomer, Senator Barack Obama, who has only had two and a half years of civilian service to his country in the Unites States Senate. He has not served his country in the true sense of the phrase service to your country.
The press, the media in general has decided to crown Senator Obama the next sensation, the next John Kennedy, the next Martin Luther King and has even gone as far as stating the next President of the United States. They have not fully vetted him; they care not of his background or his qualifications for this most honorable office. When the conservative media or press tries to talk about his qualifications, the cry of racism runs wild. Media has no desire to find out the true man who maybe the next President of the United States. All the media cares about is that new face, the new Senator with his oratory skills that has swept the nation as well as them.
Rhetoric only gets a person so far. Rhetoric will not make policy; rhetoric will not win a war, and rhetoric that will not put food on the table. The President of the United States is, first and foremost per the Constitution of the United Sates, the Commander in Chief of our military forces and of the states' National Guard and Reserves. Yes, his job entails more, but this is his first priority.
So when you look at both these men, John McCain who served in the US Navy or Barak Obama who stated there was no need for him to register for the military service. His reasoning, there was not war in progress; you need to ask yourself, who is better prepared to lead our military? Who can effectively work with the Chief of Staffs, who can effectively understand when to use force and when diplomatic measures are best suited and who will be better prepared to work with our NATO and UN Allies?
They love to connect Senator Obama to John Kennedy. John Kennedy was in the military, John Kennedy sat in the US House of Representatives for more than a decade and John Kennedy was the junior Senator of Massachusetts when he decided to run for President. He had the experience, John McCain has the experience, Barack Obama does not.
Commander in Chief is the first priorrity per our Constitution, it is a national security question. You need someone with experience to be commander in chief. You need experience to make change; you need experience to run this country. You do not need someone who thinks that his rhetoric is enough for experience.
