Poetry: Thankful

Let Go and Be Thankful

As problems arise and distractions abound all around me

I try to stay focused on all that I have to be thankful for

I have low tolerance for pity and things we cannot change from the past

Why hold on to hurtful things done or said

Many good things have been provided to each of us by He

And you will agree, no limits on praise, He always welcomes more

We are always blessed by sunshine after the rain at last

It is important to forgive, as we have been forgiven by the blood that was shed

Do not continue to view what might have been; let go of that self-drowning pain

Count your blessings whether they are plentiful or even if you find just a few

My family and friendships are definitely on my "thankful for" list

They are the first ones I call; for any matter, significant or something slight

Sure I have endured many disappointments and even shame

I refuse to allow those times gone by to swallow me up or cloud my view

It is much more enjoyable to focus on times filled with bliss

So heed my advice; reminisce about something pleasant and know it will be alright
