On the Failure of Relationships : Idealism , Illusion and The Unraveling of a Relationship
The foundation of civilization has always been constructed with the establishment of human relationships. Family, personal, business, political, or other relationships that are formed, experienced and enjoyed, both create and express the fact and mosaic of humanity, yet relationships do not always last .
In spite of the importance placed upon any individual relationship, it may ultimately fail, whether it was based originally upon necessity, physical attraction, love, curiosity, admiration, or emotional choices. The perception of the necessity of a relationship can quickly be dismissed, forgotten , or wilfully negated if it is suddenly deemed irrelevant for any number of reasons . What causes such severe change and the destruction of relationships?
Failure can be precipitated by lack of truth, flawed perception, lack of understanding, the expression of anger, or even the slightest, most insignificant insult. Lack of appropriate personal respect, wrong choices and actions, by plan or necessity, can alienate. A subliminal, unrecognized lack of trust may be a root cause. Sadly, relationships may be destroyed simply by default, where misunderstanding, or a perception of inadequacy exists. Given any of these conditions, subsequent lack of proactive thought, concern, or corrective measures taken to negate perceived damage by one party or the other almost guarantees the failure of a relationship.
Inadvertent third-person involvement, negative revelations, peer pressure, specific unrelated circumstances or events may cause collateral and permanent damage to relationships. Immature friends, poor choice of association, bad habits, or misdirected intent can do the same. Devious, inadvertent, targeted, or planned deconstruction can result in failure of a relationship previously assumed bo be solid and indestructible.
Failure of relationships is not something to be taken lightly.
Pain, deterioration of personal respect, and reduction of perceived self-worth are common results of relationship failure. Misunderstood and inexplicable sibling rivalry that is perpetuated for absolutely no reason can fragment families; emotional trauma and total failure of even the most mature family unit can, and does occur.
Disenfranchisement of endless social or business arrangements and alienation of life-long friends may be involved. Inevitably, complete loss of trust in other members of the human race,
