Autumn workouts

Autumn is here, the long days of summer have faded away. Those scorching temperatures are now replaced by low humidity, cool mornings and early evenings. The daylight hours are shorter, leaving you with less time to exercise outdoors. Don't let Autumn discourage your workouts. There are many things that you can do outdoors to burn calories and have a good time while doing them. If you have school aged children, you may even have more time to devote to an exercise plan since the kids are back in school. Some find that this is the best time of the year for a workout outdoors. The leaves are falling, the beautiful scenery is enough to make you want to be outside.

What are some of the best outdoor workouts for Autumn months?

*Go for a walk. There is nothing like taking a stroll at the park or through your neighborhood to make you appreciate the beauty of nature. Walking is considered one of the best exercise's that you can do. It can be done anywhere therefore making it the most universal form of exercise.

*Go for a bike ride. Load the kids up and go for a ride, they are sure to enjoy themselves as you will also. Many communities have bike trails that you can use or go to a park that has riding trails. Remember to wear reflective gear and have someone with you if you are going in the evening. And always wear a helmet for safety.

*Take a boot camp class offered by a local gym. These classes are usually done outside in the early morning and can give you a great workout. The trainers are tough on you which in return gives you a faster result. The cool temperatures make it an ideal way to cool off during your rough workout!

*Go for a hike. Many state or national parks have hiking trails that are available for anyone to use. Take a partner with you on your hike. Try different trails and enjoy the scenery as you go. Remember to take your camera with you as you are sure to see some extraordinary sites.

*Play with your children. One of the easiest, most fun ways of exercise does not seem like exercise at all. Play a game of soccer, kickball, football, basketball or any other sport that you enjoy. This not only gives you exercise but will also get your children out from being in front of the television.

If you are not interested in being outdoors, you can always workout inside. With the daylight hours being shorter, you may find it easier to hit the gym or work out at home. Aerobics classes, yoga, weights, treadmills, ellipticals and more can all be found at the gym. You can do these during any season of the year. If you enjoy bike riding, try using the stationary bike at the gym. Swimming is considered a summer activity but many gyms or your local YMCA should offer an indoor swimming pool that you can take advantage of.

Try mixing up your routine with some workout videos at home. Go buy that strip dance exercise video that has been tempting you all year long. Autumn gives you a good reason to learn some new moves! Don't let the short days and cool temperatures get you in couch potato mode. Try something new and keep that body you have worked so hard for in shape throughout these Autumn months!
