Mastering your Mind
Do you find that you keep forgetting where you put your glasses or your keys? Do you find yourself get easily stressed out over small things? Do you find it hard to keep on track when having a conversation?
If you say yes to these three things, you might have what is called brain deficiency. This is a result of correlation of these factors: age, nutrition, lifestyle, and stress level. Well, here are some tips to increase your brain power:
1. Meditation
A simple meditation can relax your body and mind and increase your focus at the same time. Start by taking a deep breath and put your whole attention to your breath. Release all the thoughts that come to mind one-by-one. You might be surprised that after 5-10 minutes of meditation, you will feel energized, relaxed, and ready for any mental task.
2. Exercise
By exercising, not only do you build your strength and fitness, but your body also releases hormones called endorphins that will send a message that your body is in a very good state and make you feel happy. Not only that, you will also have better sleep quality and wake up feeling energized. You can exercise by doing household chores and climbing up the stairs at your home.
3. Eat right
A good and balanced diet is very good to keep your mind sharp. Your brain will be fed with good quality and required nutrition to keep it clear and not distracted with any unnecessary pain. High antioxidant foods, such as red tomatoes, blueberries, garlic, strawberries and raisins are recommended since they will protect all your cells, including your brain cells. Some herbs will also increase your brain power, such as gingko biloba, because it increases blood flow to the brain.
4. Positive thinking habits
Some of us might find it hard to always stay positive. Sometimes we overlook the opportunity that comes with every crisis. However, if you change the way you think, change what you belief, it will ultimately change how you behave and respond. For instance, if you always tell your son that he is smart, he will grow up thinking that he is smart, and you will find him always showing flying colors. Continuous affirmation is very powerful and will take you to higher standards that you may never have imagined before.
5. Challenge yourself
Do puzzles, play chess, read newspapers, and ask questions. With these activities, you exercise your brain. By not letting your brain idle in a long period of time, you will find yourself more creative and sharp. Asking questions is a great way to keep your brain sharp. Play a question/answer dialogue in your mind, and it might take you wandering to different places.
