Poetry: Facing the past

Moon Shadows
There are moments that ring with such clarity..
There are moments that shatter the illusions..
The long and difficult path, to a hopeful future out of the past..
Choices made, consequences to be paid.
No-one escapes the moon shadows
Dreams are born.. Dreams die..
Some just change.. Some are revived..
The moon keeps cycling through it all..
Casting shadows on the floors and the walls
And somehow
No-one escapes the moon shadows
The exhilaration of a cool crisp breath..
High above earth in a sunlight sky
Gives us hope to always try
Not to fear the unknown that appears..
And yet
No -one escapes the moon shadows
There is a struggle for every attempt
A rendering of heart so long spent
Consequences with no malicious intent..
Trying to do the best one can do..
Not even knowing I am hurting you
We are all fallible it is our curse..
How we continue to pursue out of love and pain..
Is the only thing we have to gain
And once again No-one escapes the moon shadows
