How to entertain yourself with a random act of stupidity

by Kristina Lasher

Entertaining yourself with random acts of stupidity is great...it shows that people are still able to laugh at themselves. Taking a stupid moment and getting a laugh out of it is healthy! Especially when those random acts don't seem as random. When the random act of stupidity is so entertaining, it will bring laughs to your family for years to come!

A couple of years ago I was helping my husband's grandmother set up her first cell phone. She was so excited entering in all her contacts and wanted to make her very first cell call. She picked up the phone, put it to her ear and said "uh oh, I think it's broken!" I asked her what the problem was and she said there was no dial tone! I grabbed the phone put it to my ear and said we might need to call the company I think you are right. I must have sat there for a good five minutes before it dawned on me that there is no dial tone on a cell phone. We laugh about it every time either of us make a cell phone call in front of each other. It was one of those random moments...but it was so funny at the same time! I didn't feel stupid it was just one of those serious DUH moments!

Being a mother I find myself trying to accomplish too many things at once. This is the simplest way to commit a random act of stupidity. My mind is going in so many directions that household item become misplaced, adding incorrect items to a recipe...or my favorite doing normal tasks in the wrong order. Once I finished half a load of kitchen dishes, and then started re washing the dishes in the drying rack. The only problem with that was I started to stack them back up in the sink!

Currently being a pregnant woman absentmindedness comes with the territory. Most recently I was talking on the phone while I was preparing dinner for my family. I sit down after getting my meat in the oven, and potatoes are cooking on the stove. Across my television screen shows that someone is calling my house, but I don't hear my phone ringing anywhere. I check the kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms with no luck! Again the phone call comes across the screen, and I get up to get a drink since I know I can't find it! incredibly I hear a faint ringing when I am in the kitchen. I check my kitchen cabinets with no luck. I check the fridge and the ringing gets louder but there was still no phone! The phone was in my freezer! I must have put it down when I took out my vegetables to cook with my dinner. The phone had been in the freezer for a good half hour! I sat down on the floor laughing so hard. My husband walked in yelling about not answering the phone. When I told him the story he laughed also and told me I needed to start taking it easy. Then he pointed out the Duh moment...why didn't I just answer the second phone that was located on its charger in my bedroom. DUH!

The entertaining part of Duh moments is to get the laugh because otherwise you do feel stupid! I am no genius, but I don't like to consider some of my acts stupid, just not on my "A" game! Enjoy the laughs and keep smiling everyone has a duh moment the skill is not letting it ruin your day!
