Poetry: Broken love

by Heather Adams

Created on: October 13, 2008

You take me by the hand and sweep me off my feet.

I am hesitant to

But I give my heart to you.

You make promises that it will go unharmed.

I slowly grow to love you little by little by little

My friends begin to fight.

I allow my self to get caught in the middle

I relieve the stress the only way I know how to

I told you because I didn't want to keep secrets, I wanted to be true.

So much for you

You took my glass heart and shattered it

You text break up

I stay up all night and weep

I hate myself for letting go of the best thing I had

I know what I did was bad

I wish I could take it back

I wish I could make you love me again

I gave into a moment of weakness

I'm not perfect but I try to be

I hope one day you'll see the emptiness that lurks inside of me

Without your love to pull me through

I try to love myself but this is nearly impossible

Now you see why I hate myself

I hate myself for being weak and giving into the lies

One day I hope you'll love me again

Take me by the hand

And tell me everything will be alright
