Testing Presidents
The words and phases that are most associate with George W. Bush's administration and presidency are: dangerous to the stability of the world, followers, avarice, mendaciousness, wickedness, reckless, hubristic, histrionics, misleaders, secretiveness, and besotted savage capitalist. This is not hate speech; this is truth speech. Franklin Delano Roosevelt stated, "There is nothing to fear, but fear itself." The Bush 43 administration's management strategy has fear mongering histrionics as an integral component. Their MO is "there is nothing else to use, but fear itself," (The fear of terrorism, the fear of axes of evil, the fear of a bird flu pandemic, etcetera).
We as Americans must do a better job with regard to how we screen and evaluate the qualifications of presidential candidates. We do a better job of testing people for driver's licenses, for college entrance exams, and for entry into the military. Why not give the presidential candidates a battery of tests to determine if he or she is qualified to be president of the most complex country and economy. These tests should include an IQ test, a psychological profile test, a Polygraph Test, and a drug and chemical dependency test.
A test that determines whether a presidential candidate is a person of outstanding integrity, morality, and ethics is of paramount importance.
They should also be tested to determine if they are truly visionaries; if he or she has the ability to think on their feet; if he or she have the ability to make decisions for the greater common good of humanity; if he or she has strategic thinking ability; if he or she has the ability to truly grasp complex issues and provide meaningful responses to them; if he or she has the ability to handle a real nuclear threat crisis; if he or she has the ability to be truly humble when they make mistakes; if he or she has leadership ability, and whether he or she is a racist, sexist, or xenophobes. It would also be helpful to know if they can right their own speechesafter all, we do not allow college students to have someone else write their speeches, presentations, or papers.
Perhaps this seems like a lot to ask for, or maybe you can think of other evaluation criterions for presidential candidates. The stakes are too high (more death, destruction, and economic disasters for other nations and the USA) to allow an incompetent or ill-qualified persons to become president. Leading, managing, and running this country is not easy because
