I feel that the federal government should support everyone's school choice by giving vouchers or tax credits to families who choose to send their child to a private school. Parents should have the right to decide what type of school their child attends and the type of education they are getting. This way the parents know their children are learning new things in life in order to survive.
There are many reasons why parents like different types of schools. While some people prefer private school because they feel that the school setting will be stricter than that of the public school and that they can get to know their fellow students easier, other people may decide to go to a private school because they feel that the quality of education is a lot higher than at a public school. While these are not the only determinants of whether a child should go to a private school these are some of the reasons that parents send their children to one.
To me, it is unfair to tell someone who does not have the money to go to a private school that they cannot go. It does not matter if you have the money to go to school and that should not interfere in the quality of education your child gets. What matters is that your child is attending school and learning everyday skills in order to survive in the world. By having the government furnish vouchers or tax credit, the parents who want their children to attend private schools instead of public school can go and not have to worry about coming up with all the money to pay for their child's education.
Even if the parent only gets a voucher for half of the cost of their child's schooling and they can come up with the rest of the money they are still ensuring that their child is getting the education that they need. By applying for a voucher, the government can see how much income the family gets and then they can determine how much money the family should get on the voucher to help out with the cost of schooling.
A decent education should not be restricted just because a family cannot afford to pay for their child's tuition. Education should be something that is provided to everyone regardless of income and should not be discouraged because of the inability to pay. If a parent wants to send their child to a private school instead of a public school, it is their choice and no one should be able to tell them otherwise.
Using a voucher does not necessarily mean that the family is relying on it to pay for private school or their children are bad children, it just means that they need some help so that their child can have quality education.
