I see a man I recognize
but cannot place his face.
Rewind memories through my mind
to replay his mysterious place.
His face is pale and strong
but with sorrow in his eyes;
they're squinty, small and dark
what have they seen?
What do they hide?
His mouth is small and round
encircled by a sinister goatee,
pursed lips dead in between
what does he have to do with me?
I cannot place his face just quite,
it strikes me as familiar,
his fragile complexion
outlines his exterior.
I don't know why I care
about his face, about his hair.
He used to be a friend of mine
but now he isn't there.
