Kidney stones can bring on excruciating pain. They are stone like deposits of acid salts and minerals. They form from substances that are normally diluted with your urine. When urine gets too highly concentrated it interrupts the ability to dilute these minerals and acids. They begin to stick together and eventually become a solid stone.

It's important if you have a kidney stone to urinate through a tight mesh screen, usually provided by your physician. You want to find out what type of kidney stone has formed so you can prevent it from happening again. If the lab can analize the stone they can make some helpful recommendations. These may all be natural remedies, but it helps to know what the stone is made of.

Your first and best defense against kidney stones is pure, clear, clean, water. If there is a family history or if you have a history of kidney stones you want to pass at least 2.5 quarts of urine daily. To accomplish this you need drink a minimum of 3.3 liters of water a day. Drink up.

Dandelions have many uses. As an herb it is great for the function of the liver and the kidneys. It is a natural diuretic. It helps to flush out toxins and dissolves forming stones. The easiest way to use dandelions is making a dandelion tea. Gather leaves to last you the entire year before anyone tries to kill your cure. They can be eaisly dried for a great tea.

Parsley, there's a reason the restaurant puts in on your plate. You are supposed to eat it. It is a stimulant for your kidneys and digestive system. It improves your breath and your digestion. Finish up your dinner with a sprig of parsley.

Eating watermelon kills two birds with one stone. It's made mainly of water so it helps with your water intake. It also has a very high ratio of potassium salts. It's a magnificent diuretic. It's a fun food to eat, feel free to spit those seeds.

Apples and apple cider are good choices. You want to drink natural unsweetened cider if you want the best results for your overall health.

There are several that suggest that one teaspoon of basil juice and honey taken every day can eliminate kidney stones. I have not been brave enough to try it yet.

Make lemonade. Make it from fresh lemons and have a glass every day. The citrus is the key ingredient that helps with your kidney stones.

It seems pretty obvious that what goes in the body is either used or eliminated and it's key we make wise choices.

If you find that your kidney stones are calcium oxalate stones, what you don't eat might be as important as what you do eat. You will want to eliminate or minimize the amounts of food that are rich in oxalate. These include sesame seeds, almonds, rhubarb, beets, star fruit, okra, greens, and refried beans.

Perhaps if we pay attention to the cures we can avoid the stones all together. Drink your water.
