How to rate a Helium article

sufficient to maintain your stars. If you ever find yourself with extra time on your hands, rate more. By doing so, you are helping articles to move. I tend to think that 10 ratings for every article you write is a pretty fair assessment.

Leapfrogs.

Rating leapfrogs is simple, though many writers are confused when confronted with two articles which are seemingly identical. One may contain a typo fix of some kind and it could take a reader hours to find it. This isn't necessary. If both articles look reasonable, pressing SAME allows your fellow writer to have their leapfrog accepted. Remember the frustration when yours was refused? Rate these with care and respect for other writers.

Overall.

Rate regularly and fairly. Remember, as you are looking over work which means something to the writer who produced it, someone else is reading your work and making similar judgments. By taking the time to read articles, you are giving that writer the best chance possible to gain reward and recognition. You will be presented with articles from all of the channels you contribute to. If you do not know the subject, or have insufficient knowledge to judge two articles of seemingly similar quality, skip these. By doing so, you give a fellow writer a chance of being judged by those writers who do have the knowledge to judge.

Subjects like poetry and creative writing will always be rated according to reader preference, though using a criteria of presentation, content and quality is also necessary. Which poem was really the better quality ? This matters more than which you liked the best. By using your own skill as a writer to judge, the best will come to the top, and that's where Helium raters make a difference, and gain those all too often mysterious rating stars.
