I chose the yes side of this question, "Using stones in landscaping, Are man-made or natural stones better?

My reason for choosing yes, is that natural stones have been readily available for my & my husbands needs for various assunder of uses in our yard , around the barns, and other uses, for which we have found a need for natural limestone rocks of various shapes . sizes & weights.

For others the man made stones may be more beneficial described in the following:

Man Made Stone is a light weight, non-combustible product which is often used in place of Natural Stone on surfaces where a heavy stone may not be suitable. It has the appearance of Natural Stone, but has a lighter weight factor. It may be used as a wall veneer for interior and exterior use, but has no structural qualities. Cast Stone is a type of man made stone which can be formed into many styles and designs such as balustrades, ornamental statues, coping, caps, custom signage, as well as other architectural designs.

My husband and I have friends who did some landscaping in their yard and used stones that they manufactured from concrete mixture. They used this method while building a walkway to their front entrance, This consited of using a large heavy duty plastic frame work, or grid, what ever would be the approriate name for it, It was in the shape of a 3by3 foot section of a walk, it had openings shaped like rocks with strips of heavy plastic between. They simply would press this into the prepared area, mix their concret mixtures in a large container they would shake, and pour into the openings, after this set up for a certain amount of time, they simply removed the grid and placed it in another location, continuing this process until the walk was finished. The end result was pleasing to the eye looked and made a lovely entrance to their front porch. The tops of the stones were smooth for walking, and had various shapes that looked like natural stones, However my opion would be that through the wear and tear of weather, winters of freezing and thawing, these stones unlike the natural ones, will crack and peel omuch like the normal pour sidewalks do.

As recent as two years ago we had water lines dug on our farm, as we were putting in city water, and turning our current cisten supply into to the water supply for out door use only, for the cattle, horses, yard, flowers, garden and such. We had lines dug for this as well as those through the 800foot field in front our house. The workmen did well
