I believe that children under the age of 13 shouldn't have separate seating in airplanes to prevent them from seeing violent movie images. If parents believed that their child shouldn't have seen something or shouldn't see something, then they should simply drive to wherever they are going or earn enough money to have their own private plane. It is completely absurd to think that anyone ages 14 and older should sacrifice their own comfort to have the comfort of age 13 or younger child. The age 13 or younger child won't even be able to remember what the movie was about when they are older. Also, there are plenty of airlines out today that do not show movies on their plane rides. If the adult/parents didn't like what the airline chose to play because of too much violence or a violent movie image, they should simply switch airlines.
Today, people are always giving juveniles more freedom. Why not start at age 13? Or even younger? I could understand a 10 year old not being able to watch a movie with a sex scene in it or even a 10 year old not being able to watch a movie that is too gory but for a violent scene? A car crash could be previewed as a "violent scene" just for the instance that it included people dieing. Getting in a fight with aliens for instance could be violent, but then again, parents let kids watch Scooby-Doo and that show has plenty of aliens in it. Scooby and his gang always fights aliens. Why should watching something on an airplane be any different?
An airplane ride is very similar to a car ride anyways. If you are anything like me, I fall asleep in the car. Just imagine a very long car ride. I'm out in an instant. And what do parents do with a baby? They drive them in cars to get them to go to sleep. Even if they get tired of driving them in cars, they put the baby in a child seat and set them on top of a dryer. It's ridiculous to think that by taking away violent movies/images, people think that they would be able to take away the violence and that's what this really comes down to.
No one will ever take away the violence. Even without violent movies, we had wars and fighting and killing and genocide. Movies didn't make it worse or even better. It just showed what it was like. In some cases, violent movies help us. Some people join the military because they've seen the movie Pearl Harbor and want to be a war hero.
In any case, my opinion is no. I really don't believe that children under the age of 13 should have separate seating in airplanes to prevent them from seeing violent movie images. It's a ridiculous idea.
