In the beginning the government of the U.S. was to be "of the people" but I truly do not feel the average "Joe" has much of a say at all in the running of the U.S. Government. One exception would be if the average "Joe" is a politician or holding an office of authority in the Government of the U.S. he might have more say but then he would not be an average "Joe " anymore, would he.
OK you are wondering what does the average "Joe American" look like. Well perhaps he is someone like me, maybe a grandmother of many children who has worked her entire life until she became ill and now lives with her son as a help to him and to have a place to live as she can no longer work. Maybe she always paid her way and helped others along the way, and never tried to take more than she gave or asked for handouts when she was able to fully support herself, but maybe now she has to have help, but not too much is available to her you see because after all she is just the average "Jill American". Maybe she now has to visit free clinics and try to find a doctor who will give her samples of pills for her high blood pressure and her acute arthritic pain because she has no insurance from not working so long now and must try to find other ways to get medical help and prescriptions. Would you agree this average "American " Joe or Jill is not running the country at all and has little to no say on what happens to her?
We have gotten so far away as a country of government "of the people" and government "for the people" and government "by the people". Anymore its government by the politicians and the ruling party. Yes we have changed allot since our founding fathers put forth this glorious country called the United States of America of which I am a resident and a natural citizen and of which I am very proud to be a part of, but that doesn't mean we throw away everything the founding fathers believed in. Most of the founding believers were Christians and voiced a belief in God and Godly living. Most believed in freedom and fought to have it and many of our early citizens died to preserve freedom for the U.S.A.
I believe this country is worth fighting for and yes even dying for if necessary as I believe freedom is one of the most important attributes we proud Americans have. We can however work on some of the problems we are facing now and make this country still stand up to its original expectancy as a country "of the people" however I feel that we are falling so short these days.
