Literally keeping it "simple" is the best and simplest way to save money during the holidays. Some people

think that if they can't spend money it isn't a holiday. Others choose to ignore the holidays just so they don't

have to spend money. The truth is holidays are a way for our society to socialize, connect with family members,

strengthen family ties and forget about your cares for a day. To get through the holidays and actually save money

is not that difficult at all. Saving for each family might mean something different. Brainstorming with each other

is the best way to figure out what your holiday savings will be. Here are a few suggestions to get you started.

Use last years decorations, make your own crafts, ornaments, and centerpieces. Put more thought into giving

more meaningful, personal gifts to family members. This is not only an opportunity to save money, but an opportunity to

strengthen family ties. It is an opportunity to say how much you really do care. Another simple way to save money during the

holidays is to team together with friends and family for a holiday dinner. The concept is similar to a hodge-podge. You supply

the main meal, such as a turkey, ham or a roast and ask your guests to bring other parts of the meal, such as mashed

potatoes, salad, pie etc. Everybody is familiar with this concept and are especially happy to save money, enjoy each others

company and have a great meal. Another strategy for saving money during the holidays is to pay attention to particulars that

you normally wouldn't think of such as how many times you might drive to the store between the eve and morning of the

holiday to get last minute items. Try, instead to sit and focus on items you'll need to cook on the holiday. Do this at least 2 to 3

weeks prior to the holiday. Look for the sales, write down all the ingredients you need. This will save money on gas, and last

minute non-sale items. All of the ideas and more will accumulate in a tidy savings account by the time spring rolls around.
