The war in Iraq has been a complicated subject to talk about ever since it began back in 2003, and yet ever since it started all of a sudden there are millions of experts on war and tactics coming out of the wood-works to express their opinions, and incite hatred against the US government and the US soldiers themselves.
In WWI and WWII it was an honourable thing for men to go to war to fight for their country, fight to protect their loved ones from a possible overtaking and a possible future life run by dictatorships where everything they have ever lived for will be changed in the blink of an eye. So what happened for this feeling to change? Are the men and women fighting all over the world today, in the different wars against terrorism and tyranny, risking less than the men of the great wars? The answer is a simple no, the only thing that has changed is that the civilian population, who would never dream of picking up a rifle and entering the front lines of the trenches, who would never dream of driving down a road which is renowned for having 10-20 accurate improvised explosive devices attacks every single day, just to deliver a client safe and sound. Have changed their attitudes to the fact that they believe everything in this world can be resolved by talking in this day and age.
America has been in Iraq since 2003 along with another 39 countries that have been in and out of the country since the war began. the majority of countries have now left Iraq, and those that haven't left have cut down dramatically on troop numbers over the last few years, not because they have been asked to leave, but because of other commitments around the world in different war zones. The US originally went into Iraq with 250 000 troops and as of the last Tally in August 2008 they currently have 144 000 troops in country at present. This may seem a lot compared to every other country that has served over there, but in comparison of size and population of the USA and Iraq the population of US troops is very minimal compared to the amount of regions that need the Help and support of the US and coalition forces.
Throughout history, as far as the history records go back, British and US soldiers have fought there ground to bring peace and democracy all over the world. The only reason peace stays in these countries is because our soldiers win the battle and then stick around to make sure the things that we fight for, the reasons our soldiers die, is not taken away from us once we leave.
