What to look for when buying a new toilet

makes, models, color, and general choices, the flushing option seems to be the main concern when it comes to price.

Pressure Assisted: These are found to be the quite expensive, and loud. These toilets use pressure from your water system to ensure better cleaning. Even though they are loud, and somewhat pricey these toilets are considered to be more effective, and reduce clogs in plumbing.

Gravity: These toilets use water that is stored above the bowl to fall through the bowl when the handle is pushed. They are somewhat quiet, plus these have a large array of models. This is also the cheapest.

Vacuum: The vacuum toilet uses a sucking action to remove water, and permits the toilet to backfill with water. These toilets are found to be very quiet, but it's also more expensive than the average toilet.

Dual Flush: The dual flush toilets come with two flush options. One for water waste and one for solid waste. These toilets are great in the perspective where they reduce water waste. The downside to the dual is they are somewhat complicated, and the most expensive.

A common problem people have with toilets is when something breaks, or goes wrong. Do I fix it myself, or call a professional? For most minor problems they can be fixed by you. Big problems should be left up to a professional. There are a lot to consider when deciding who is going to fix it. So here is a fix it question checklist.

1. Does the person fixing it understand how to fix it?

2. Do they know the problem exactly?

3. Are you willing to spend the money for a professional?

4. Do you want to take the chance of not having a professional?

5. How long can the problem wait?

The DIY (Do It Yourself) Network provides instructions on how to fix most common toilet problems. Make sure you consider all possibilities before you decide to DIY or call in the pros.
